Bio
James Majenge became Weatherford College’s first cross country and half marathon coach in January of 2026.
Majenge came to WC from Ranger College, where he led the women's team to a conference championship and a top 12 finish at the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships, while guiding the men's team to a top 15 national finish, all in his first year as head coach.
In 2025, his teams were named the men's and women's conference champions and earned the men's and women's Coach of the Year award. His men's team finished 15th at the national tournament, while his women's team finished 9th, the program’s first top ten finish in 15 years.
In the half marathon, Majenge coached a Region V individual champion. He also coached four first team cross country and half marathon All-Americans.
A South Africa native, Majenge was a decorated collegiate runner, competing at Cameron University after transferring from Monroe College.
As a fifth-year senior at Cameron, he won multiple titles, including the 5K at the Lone Star Conference (LSC) Outdoor Championships, where he also earned silver in the 1500m. He never placed outside the top four in any meet and earned Second Team All-LSC honors with 18 points scored.
As a senior, he won three of six cross country races, finished runner-up at the LSC Championships, placed 13th at the South-Central Region meet, and earned All-Region and All-American honors. Also recognized as the Cameron Athletics Male Athlete of the Year.
In his junior year, Majenge won five consecutive cross-country races, captured the individual title at the LSC Championships, and was named LSC Newcomer of the Year. On the track, he won the 1500m at the LSC Outdoor Championships and earned multiple All-LSC honors.
At Monroe College, he was a five-time NJCAA All-American and was the program's Rookie of the Year, competing at both indoor and outdoor NJCAA National Championships.
