WC tennis tops Collin

In a match between two top 10 squads, the Weatherford College women's tennis team defeated Collin College Saturday in Plano, 7-2. 

WC is ranked No. 7 in the country among JUCO teams and Collin is ranked No. 8, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. 

The Coyotes won all six singles matches and the top doubles match. WC won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. 

"We've had really focused, competitive practices, with the team pushing each other to another level—they are seeing the value of that, and it shows with our result at Collin," said Alexandra Leatu, WC coach. 

"I'm really proud of the girls' energy and competitive spirit Saturday," Leatu said. "It set the standard for the rest of the season." 

The Coyotes will next face Meridian Community College Friday at Collin.
