Coyotes claim second at Thunderbird Invitational

The No. 7 Weatherford College women's golf team recently traveled to New Mexico Junior College as part of the Thunderbird Invitational, competing against No. 1 Odessa, and overcoming No. 5 New Mexico and No. 8 Barton.

WC arrived home with a second-place victory, as well as team member Emily Gutierrez earning fifth place in the individual's category. 

"The conditions were challenging with wind gusts exceeding 25mph, resulting in higher scores from all of the competitors," said head golf coach Dave Renhack about the two-day event.

"The extra work we've been putting in on short game is starting to show, and I expect us to continue to move up in the rankings."

The Coyotes' next match is at the Arkansas Collegiate at the Mystic Creek Golf Club on March 9 and 10.
