WC softball loses to host Odessa in regional tourney

In the opening round of the NJCAA Region V Softball Tournament, No. 23 Weatherford College fell to No. 10 Odessa College, 11-3, in five innings Wednesday in Odessa.

The Coyotes opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, taking a 2-0 lead. Cleanup hitter Karlie Landrum drove in two runs with an RBI single.

Odessa (49-7) responded with a seven-run bottom of the first and never looked back, adding two runs in the second and two more in the fourth to secure the run-rule victory.

Weatherford (38-15) tallied six hits, including singles from Casidy Victorino, Rian Coon, Aofia Noa, Jackie Divine and Alex Graham. Divine, Graham and Adeline Glatch each scored a run.

WC will face Western Texas College in an elimination game Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
