The No. 20 Weatherford College softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to No. 4 Temple College on Saturday, May 2, falling 8-0 and 4-1 in conference action at the Danny Scott Sports Complex in Temple.
The Coyotes are now 34-14 overall and 18-10 in league play. Temple (46-6, 26-2) has won 17 of its last 18 games.
Temple took control early in the opener, scoring two runs in the first inning and breaking the game open with a four-run fourth inning on the way to an 8-0 victory.
Weatherford was limited to one hit, a single by Rian Coon. The Coyotes drew four walks but were unable to push across a run.
Izzy Garcia led the Leopards offensively and in the circle, driving in four runs and earning the win with five scoreless innings while striking out seven.
The Coyotes put together a stronger effort in the nightcap but fell 4-1.
Temple scored once in the first inning and added three runs in the fourth to grab control. Weatherford answered with a run in the fifth when Jackie Divine doubled and later drove in WC's lone run.
Aofia Noa scored the run for Weatherford and recorded one of the Coyotes' two hits.
Weatherford returns home for its final home doubleheader of the season on Wednesday against Cisco College at Stuart Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
