Finishing out a four-game series sweep against North Central Texas College, the No. 22 Weatherford College softball team defeated the Lions with a 9-3 score in game one and a 9-0 shutout in game two on Saturday at Stuart Field.
WC currently has a 34-10 overall record and stands at 18-6 in conference. The team has won nine of its last ten games played.
Sarah Hanf was a monster in the pitchers' circle, striking out seven batters and allowing only three runs on six hits and three walks.
Three players for the black and gold turned in triples in game one, including Jackie Divine, Alex Graham and Aofia Noa.
Despite NCTC shrinking the gap in the top of the sixth, scoring two runs to make it a 5-3 game, Noa led the charge with her triple, followed by Janae Trojacek bringing the first of four runners in to cap off the victory.
The late game started out hot as two-thirds of the Coyotes' lineup saw home plate, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first.
While the Lions tried to put something together on offense, WC continued to increase their lead with one run scored in the second, third and fourth innings. Seven Coyotes brought in one or more runners. Noa and Adeline Glatch brought in two a piece, while Graham, Joni Jackson, Casidy Victorino, Rian Coon, and Karlie Landrum all brought in one.
Right-handed pitcher Kamryn Mears shut down the NCTC lineup, allowing only one hit and issuing three walks and a strikeout.
The Coyotes will host No. 4 Temple College at Stuart Field in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 29, with the first pitch at 1 p.m.
