Hanf named national pitcher of the week for second time
Freshman phenom strikes out 27 in 15 Innings
Weatherford College freshman pitcher Sarah Hanf has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. Hanf also earned Pitcher of the Week honors from the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.
This latest recognition comes after another dominant week in the circle for Hanf, where she pitched a total of 15 innings and recorded an impressive 27 strikeouts and zero errors.
Hanf's outstanding performance this week follows a historic outing against Hill College on April 9, where she threw the first perfect game in the history of Coyote softball. In that game, she struck out 11 batters across five innings, allowing no walks, no runs and no hits in an 11-0 shutout victory.
Continuing her stellar play into the weekend series against Hill College, Hanf pitched a near-perfect game on April 12, allowing just one hit in five innings pitched during a 17-0 shutout win.
Hanf's excellent pitching pushed the team up to No. 17 in the nation as they surpassed 30 overall wins.
The Coyotes' final home season games take place at Stuart Field this Friday, starting at noon against No. 1 McLennan Community College.
