WC women win at Pecos rodeo, two Coyotes win individual events
Coyotes take women's team champion title at Sul Ross State University hosted rodeo
After exceptional performances at the Pecos College Rodeo in Pecos, TX, the Weatherford College rodeo team returned home as the women's team champions.
Alongside the team victory, Mecate Trammel won first in the bull riding event. Trammel logged a 76.5 for second in the first round and improved to an 84.5 for first in the short go. A total of 161 on two earned him the golden buckle.
Following closely behind Trammel, Trigger Lad earned a 78.5 on one to place second.
Mason Stueve, with partner Britt Bradford from Cisco College, won first in team roping, recording a 12.2 on two.
In goat tying, Jacee Graff produced a 7.7 in the first round and a 7.6 in the short go to tie for second place.
Emily Ward and Roxy Waring each received a 17.88 for the first round of the barrel racing event for the Coyotes. Duplicating their matching results in the short go, they both earned a 17.96 to place second and third.
Mitchie Story came in second place in saddle bronc, recording an 80 for second place in the first round and a 77.5 in the short go for a total of 157.5.
In the tie-down event, Hayden Stump earned an 11.4 for fifth place in the first round, improving to 14.3 for third in the short go. Stump placed third with a total of 25.7.
WC rodeo will be at the Cowboy Capital Fairgrounds in Stephenville to compete in the Tarleton Stampede, on April 16-18.
