Mayer, Langan, Lewis named NJCAA All-Americans
WC men's golf team earn three All-American recognitions
For the first time in program history, athletes from the Weatherford College men's golf team have earned NJCAA All-American honors.
Sophomore Dawson Langan, alongside freshmen Michael Mayer and Nicholas Lewis, have been named NJCAA All-Americans, with Mayer and Langan being named to the All-American second team and Lewis to the third team.
WC finished the year as the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference and NJCAA Region V Champions, placed fifth at the NJCAA DI Men's National Championship and ended the season ranked fourth in the nation.
Mayer was ranked No. 5 in the nation for individual athletes. He won the Claud Jacobs Individual in Victoria and finished in the top three four times, including second place at the NJCAA Region V Championships.
Langan was ranked No. 21, performing well throughout the year. He won first at the Bethany College Classic, finishing 4-under-par. He shot 3-under in the first round, 3-over in the second and 4-under in the final round.
Lewis was No. 49 and was a key component to WC's success at the national tournament. He recorded five birdies, including two in the final five holes on the second day of the competition. He was tied for 17th place.
In the history of WC athletics, this is only the second time the Coyotes have had three All-Americans in the same season from the same sport.
The first was softball in 2013, with honors being earned by Kortney Koroll, Kylee Studioso and Katy Vandewater.
Mayer was previously named a PING All-American in May.
