Men’s golf finish in fifth at nationals
WC completes best season since starting in 2021
The No. 4 Weatherford College men's golf team finished its most outstanding season yet, taking fifth place at the NJCAA DI Men's National Championship. It marks the best finish for WC since the program's inception, a 10-spot improvement from last year's 15th-place finish.
Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kansas, proved to be a tough course, with particularly windy conditions during the fourth round challenging all competitors.
The Coyotes fought hard throughout the tournament, playing in front of a gallery on the 18th hole on the final day. Several team members shot four or more holes under par, leading to a one-under-par performance in the second round.
WC held off sixth-place Central Alabama by three strokes to secure its spot in the final grouping alongside champion McLennan and runner-up Indian Hills.
Michael Mayer tied for 10th place, finishing nine over par.
