Coyotes take one from Vikings
WC basketball traveled to Grayson College on Saturday. The men's team came out on top with a 61-52 victory, while the women's team fell short, losing 70-58.
The Weatherford College men's basketball team (11-10 overall, 4-2 in conference) won their matchup against Grayson College (8-12, 0-4) with a 61-52 victory on Saturday at Bill Brock Court.
The Coyotes came out strong in the first half and kept their momentum up through the second. Each team member was a vital component on the court to ultimately claim victory over the Vikings.
Freshman guard Adrian Shackleton put up 12 points. Adding to the team's effort were freshman forward Tyson Whybrew, and sophomore guards Marvin Brimage, Braylon Crosby and Antwan Wilson who each contributed 8 points for a combined total of 32.
With this victory, WC is now tied for second in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.
Grayson College defeated the women's team with a final score of 70-58.
Up by 5 at the half, the Lady Vikings (14-5 overall, 4-1 in conference) held the lead throughout the evening to earn the win over the Lady Coyotes (10-8, 3-3).
Neso Anisiobi had a 12-point game, with 11 rebounds. Zion Hayes scored 11 points, and Naomi Wilson came out with 10.
The Lady Coyotes return to the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center on Wednesday, Jan. 29, to take on Cisco College. Tipoff is at 5 p.m. Both teams play at home on Saturday, Feb. 1, against Ranger College with games at 2 and 4 p.m. Find their full schedule at wcathletics.com.
