WC baseball earns NTJCAC honors
Eight Coyotes earn conference team placements
As the Coyotes begin their post season, the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference released their yearly baseball honors, with Weatherford College earning several spots on the all-conference teams.
Sophomores Jake Overstreet and Ty Waid, and freshman Jackson Irons each earned a spot on the all-conference first team.
Waid led the Coyotes in home runs this year, hitting a total of 23. He is tied for eighth in the nation for home runs hit. He brought in 75 runners and recorded a .383 batting average.
Overstreet had an .414 overall batting average to bring in 57 runners and blasted 12 homers.
Irons logged 16 HR's, bringing in 67 runs and averaged .350 at the plate.
Sophomores Jack Cagianello and AJ Miera, as well as freshman Alex D'Angelo, Joseph Sandusky and Walt Jones each were awarded a spot on the all-conference second team.
New Mexico Military Institute will be at Roger Williams Ballpark to face WC in a best-of-three regional series beginning Thursday May 7. All games are scheduled for 1 p.m.
