The Weatherford College baseball team will host a postseason series this week after finishing the regular season with two more wins against Temple College on Saturday at Roger Williams Ballpark.
The No. 25 Coyotes (37-18) will host New Mexico Military (38-18) in a best-of-three regional series Thursday and Friday, with a deciding game Saturday if necessary, at Williams Ballpark. All games are scheduled for 1 p.m.
Weatherford finished second in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference with a 24-8 league record. The top two teams earn the right to host first-round regional series.
The Coyotes are making their sixth consecutive postseason appearance, the first under new head coach Jud Kinzy.
Weatherford hit four home runs Saturday and set a program record with 115 home runs this season. The previous record of 101 was set by the 2023 team, which finished third at the NJCAA Division I World Series.
WC won the opener 4-1, breaking a scoreless tie with three runs in the fifth inning and adding an insurance run in the sixth. Noah Bentley allowed just one hit over five scoreless innings, striking out six. Rodney Peña earned the save with five strikeouts, no walks and three hits over the final two innings.
Austin Godwin went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Walt Jones was also 2-for-3, and Joseph Sandusky hit a solo home run.
In the second game, the Coyotes overcame a 3-0 deficit with four runs in the third inning and held off a late Temple rally in an 8-5 win.
Kade Irons earned the win in relief, pitching 3 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing two hits, walking two and striking out two.
Godwin finished 2-for-4. Ty Waid and Kyzer Harrington each homered, and leadoff hitter Kaden Robardey went 2-for-4.
