Weatherford set the tone early in the opener, scoring four runs over the first two innings. The Coyotes totaled six hits and played clean defense, committing no errors while limiting Vernon to one run.
WC's pitching staff held Vernon off the scoreboard after the first inning, with Coyote pitchers working efficiently and stranding runners to protect the early lead. Noah Bentley earned the win, allowing just three hits and one run over five innings with six strikeouts and four walks.
In the second game, Weatherford broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning and cruised to the win. The Coyotes collected 11 hits and showed patience at the plate while creating pressure on the basepaths.
Austin Godwin led the offensive effort in the nightcap, going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Garrett Schroeder drove in two runs, while Ty Waid and Jake Overstreet each added an RBI. Kyzer Harrington and Joseph Sandusky both crossed the plate twice as Weatherford built separation early and maintained control throughout.
The Coyotes' pitching staff again delivered from start to finish. Alex D'Angelo earned the win with two and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief, striking out four batters, and Oscar Salazar closed the game with three shutout innings to pick up the save.
