Coyotes split series with Highlanders
Weatherford College and McLennan Community College each take two in four game series

The No. 2 Weatherford College baseball team took on the No. 18 McLennan Highlanders in a doubleheader last week, winning game one 7-4 but dropping game two 10-2.
WC stayed in the top spot in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference standings with a record of 21-7 in conference play and a 38-9 record overall.
In game one, the Highlanders were the first to score, putting up one in the second inning. Each team put up two in the third, but the Coyotes took lead in the fourth.
Though McLennan tied it back up in the fifth, WC pulled away for the win, putting up two more in the sixth and one in the seventh.
JC Davis scored two RBI for the Coyotes, as did Caden Mitchell hitting a two-run homer.
Trent Collier was on the mound for game one, striking out a total of nine. Collier allowed two earned runs on three hits and walked two.
Game two was a lop-sided victory in favor of the Highlanders, who put up three early in the first, added another six runs in the fourth and one more in the seventh.
Conference play will resume with a four-game series against Vernon College, the last of the year, beginning April 30 at noon.
