WC rodeo team has big weekend in Vernon
 

The Weatherford College rodeo team had its best outing of the young season at the Vernon College Rodeo last weekend. The men’s team took third place overall with 293 points with strong performances in bull riding, team roping and calf roping.

Lane Ivy and Landon Williams took second place in team roping, missing first place by just 0.2 seconds. Ivy is holding down fifth place in the Southwest Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association standings. WC’s Colby Williams and Jake Matthews took sixth place in Vernon.

Cierra Kunesh leads the Southwest Region in breakaway roping with a substantial lead over her nearest competitor. She took second and Riley Greene won third place in Vernon. Kunesh led the event after the long go with an impressive 2.0. 

Jarod Parsonage took second place in bull riding after starting the event tied for first in the long go. Parsonage stands at sixth place in the region.

The next Southwest Region event is October 13-15 in Perryton, hosted by Frank Phillips College.
