WC begins Rodeo Season in New Mexico
PORTALES, NM – The Weatherford College Rodeo Team began the 2011-12 season with one of its longest road trips of the year last weekend: about 400 miles one-way to Eastern New Mexico University.
Breakaway ropers Brooke Sulley and Savannah Todd had WC’s best results in Portales. Sulley, a Lipan High School graduate, finished in second place. Todd, a Willcox, Ariz. native, finished third in the average.
J.C. Williams earned a 9.20 in the team roping long-go with his partner from Tarleton, but no score in the short-go kept the pair out of the top 10. Cydney Bryan posted scores in both rounds of barrel racing, finishing 7th overall.
WC heads back on the road for another long trip this weekend, a 440-mile jaunt to Alpine and Sul Ross State University.
