The Weatherford College women's basketball team begins the postseason Saturday, March 7 in the NJCAA Region V Tournament at Lubbock Christian University. The Lady Coyotes will face Howard College at 2 p.m. in LCU's Rip Griffin Center. Howard (23-7) finished in fourth place in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC). WC (17-11) has won the last four meetings between the two teams, most recently in the 2005-06 regular season. The tournament is single-elimination, with the champion advancing to the NJCAA national tournament. If the Lady Coyotes win game one Saturday, they will play in the semifinal at noon on Monday, March 9. The championship game is March 10 at 2 p.m. WC won its third straight conference title this season, wrapping up sole possession of the championship Saturday with a 73-70 win over Grayson. The tournament will feature two nationally-ranked teams, both from the WJCAC: #5 Midland College (29-1), and #21 South Plains (24-6). All WC postseason games will be broadcast on QX-FM Radio: 89.1/89.5 FM and online at www.qxfm.com.
