Weatherford College has announced the hiring of Flint Wallace as assistant baseball coach.

Coach Flint WallaceThe former Weatherford High School head coach and WHS alumnus will be responsible for the Coyote pitching staff. He replaces another WHS graduate, Chad Massengale, who has moved on to the NCAA Division-I level at Stephen F. Austin.

"Flint has a great baseball mind and a passion for teaching pitching and developing baseball players," said Jeff Lightfoot, WC head coach. "His experience and enthusiasm will be a great asset to the WC baseball program."

Wallace most recently served as director of baseball operations at TCU.

He coached at WHS from 1999 to 2006, serving as head coach during the 2005 and 2006 seasons.  Wallace's team went four rounds deep in the playoffs in '05 and three rounds deep in '06.

Wallace was an All-State pitcher as a senior in 1992 under WHS head coach David Walden. He played at San Jacinto College one season and then moved on to TCU, where he helped the Horned Frogs win the Southwest Conference in 1994.

He was drafted by the Oakland A's in the 27th round and spent four years in the minor leagues, working his way up to the Double-A Huntsville Stars.

"Working at Weatherford College is a great opportunity for me," Wallace said. "Weatherford is the community we've chosen to make our home-it's a great place to raise a family. It's a win-win situation for me as a coach and for our family."

Wallace and his wife, Anna, have one five-year old son, Cade.
