Weatherford College basketball player Edvinas Ruzgas has been named the NJCAA Region 5 Player of the Week for Jan. 7-13.

The 6'6' forward scored 30 points to lead WC past previously undefeated Temple College in the first conference game of the season Jan. 9. He made 6-of-9 three-pointers and had seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks and three steals for the Coyotes (13-3 overall, 2-0 conference).

Ruzgas is originally from Vilnius, Lithuania, but played high school basketball in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was an honorable mention All-Conference selection last season as a freshman for Mark Osina's Coyotes.

Kendrell Thompson (Collin) was named the North Texas Junior College Conference Player of the Week and Nick Okorie (South Plains) was the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
