With the Nevada basketball team's lead swelling in the second half Thursday night, a most unusual chant started to spill from the Lawlor Events Center crowd as "KRAE-MER, KRAE-MER, KRAE-MER" rung down from the rafters.

The cheers were for Wolf Pack guard Ray Kraemer, who scored a career-high 11 points in Nevada's 84-46 win over San Jose State on Thursday night.

Kraemer's points came in a second-half flurry as he knocked down three 3-pointers and scored a fast-break layup in a span of five minutes, 12 seconds.

"I got in a good shooting rhythm and just hit the open shots," the sophomore said.

He also notched a highlight-reel block. Trailing a driving Mac Peterson, Kraemer swatted the shot from behind, raced up court and finished the fast break with a layup. The crowd erupted and chants of "KRAE-MER" ignited.

The reserve hit 4-of-5 shots in a season-high 13 minutes.

"It doesn't matter if it's 30 seconds or 10 minutes," Kraemer said. "Whatever it is, I want to help my team out, play good defense and keep the offense (going) well."

The Wolf Pack bench as a whole played one of its best games, scoring 30 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Reserve guard Lyndale Burleson had a season-high 10 points.

Both Kraemer and Burleson missed part of Wednesday's practice with an illness.

"Maybe missing practice was the key (to their strong play)," Nevada coach Mark Fox joked. Article Manager module by by George! Software.
