The Weatherford College rodeo team has several competitors at or near the top of their respective regional event standings after the first two rodeos of the spring semester. After the recent West Texas A&M Rodeo in Canyon, WC holds the top three spots in tie down roping in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association's Southwest Region. George Allen Rowland leads the event, followed closely behind by Clif Dale Cooper and Chris Demasses. Demasses won the Calf Roping Champion title in Canyon, finishing first in the event for the second week in a row. WC also has the top spots in team roping, in both the header (Randal Van Eggemeyer) and heeler (Joseph Beers) categories. Jake Cobb is tied for fifth in team roping-heeler. Shambrae Rose is on the cusp of qualifying for regionals in barrel racing, as she currently holds sixth place. The WC men's team sits in third place in the overall standings, and the women's team is in eighth place. Next up for the Southwest Region is the Odessa College Rodeo March 26-28.
