Spencer’s 33 points lead WC men to win

Reece Spencer scored a season-high 33 points Saturday afternoon, leading the Weatherford College men’s basketball team to an 84-79 win over Hill College at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center.

Spencer, a 6-foot-4-inch freshman from Porter, Texas, scored 29 of his 33 points in the second half, including six 3-pointers.

WC improved to 11-10 overall and 2-4 in Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play. Hill dropped to 16-6 and 1-5.

The Lady Coyotes lost to Hill, 89-72. HC’s Jade Compton led all scorers with 22 points. River Romine put up 21 points for WC.

Weatherford remains in a five-way tie for first place in the NTJCAC women’s standings at 5-2 in conference play, 14-3 overall. Hill is also 5-2 in conference, 12-9 overall.

Both WC teams face McLennan Community College in Waco Wednesday afternoon.
