Lady Coyote named to All-America team


10-Masha VasilevkoThe National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Weatherford College’s Masha Vasilevko a women’s basketball All-American for the 2017-18 season. Vasilevko was included on the NJCAA Division I All-American third team.

The 6-foot-1-inch sophomore from Belarus was named the Player of the Year in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.

She led the conference in scoring with 18.3 points per game and also led the NTJCAC in three-point shooting at 43.9 percent.

Vasilevko was a double-digit scorer in all but two WC games this season. She scored 31 points at Blinn College Nov. 18 and more than 20 points in 11 other games.

Vasilevko is the 19th women’s basketball All-American in WC history and the first since 2015.
