Lady Coyotes defeat McLennan, Coyotes fall short

Coyote basketball split a pair of games with McLennan Community College Wednesday night in the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center.

The Lady Coyotes beat McLennan 82-69, placing them in a four-way tie for first place in conference with a record of 11-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play. This was the first conference loss for MCC.

McLennan defeated the Coyote men’s team 91-69 despite five WC players scoring double figures. Xavier Armstead led MCC with 25 points.

The MCC men are ranked No. 14 in the nation with a 20-1 overall record and 3-0 conference record. The Coyotes are now 13-9 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

The Lady Coyotes play Cisco at 2 p.m. Saturday at WC, and both the men’s and women’s teams travel to Ranger on Jan. 31.
