Coyotes, Lady Coyotes make All-Conference in basketball

The coaches of the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference have released the 2009-10 All-Conference teams for men's and women's basketball, and several Weatherford College athletes are honorees.

Shemeka Lunford was named Defensive Player of the Year for her play with the Lady Coyotes, averaging 7.0 blocked shots per game. The 6-foot-3 freshman from Brazoswood also averaged 13.2 points and 8.9 rebounds, earning second team All-Conference honors.

Sophomore guard Kasondra Foreman was named first team All-Conference after finishing tied for fifth in the NTJCAC in scoring with 15.8 points per game. Foreman, an Arlington Sam Houston graduate, was an All-Conference selection in her freshman year as well.

Saule Kontautaite was named second team All-Conference.  The sophomore Lithuanian was eighth in scoring with 12.6 points per game.

Brittani Wilkins and Monica McGill were named honorable mention All-Conference.

On the men's All-Conference team, WC's Sammy Yeager earned first team honors.  Yeager ranked third in conference scoring with 21.6 points per game.   The 6-foot-4 guard is a sophomore transfer from Modesto Junior College in California.

Kendall Durant and Darious Jones were named to the All-Conference second team. Durant, a guard from Washington, D.C., finished sixth in scoring with 18.3 points per game.  Jones, a guard from Ft. Worth Paschal, was eighth in assists with 2.8 per game.
