Weatherford College pitcher Paul Montalbano has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball at the University of Texas at Austin next season.

Montalbano is the first WC ex to sign with the Longhorns and the seventh to sign with a Big XII program.

The 6-foot-2 lefty from Galveston Ball was a first team All-Conference honoree in 2009, sporting a 6-2 record with a 2.41 ERA, 57 strikeouts and 18 walks. He threw a no-hitter against McLennan on April 25th.

As a freshman, Montalbano turned in the first no-hitter in school history on February 5, 2008 against Northeast Texas.

He also contributed at the plate, logging 32 hits, 14 RBI, and 22 runs scored in 121 at-bats last season.

"It's been Paul's dream to pitch at the University of Texas, and I'm glad to see him get that opportunity after two outstanding years at WC," said Weatherford head coach Jeff Lightfoot. "I look forward to establishing a long-standing relationship with UT."
