Former Weatherford High School baseball star Josh Easley has committed to Weatherford College next season.  Easley had previously committed to the University of Arkansas.

The 6-foot-3 pitcher was a first-team All-District selection for the 3-5A champion Kangaroos in 2009, sporting a 1.54 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 54 2/3 innings.  He also had a productive year at the plate, with 21 RBI and 11 doubles.

"Our staff works very hard to find the best talent in the country for our program, and it's certainly an asset that some of the best talent in the country is right in your back yard," said Jeff Lightfoot, WC head coach.  "We are proud that Josh has decided that WC is the best fit for him.  Josh has a great future and we look forward to helping him reach his potential as we strive to be champions."

In NCAA baseball, players are allowed to opt out of their commitments as long as they are not switching to another NCAA program. Weatherford College competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

In 2009, WC finished with a 23-20 overall record and finished in third place in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference with a 19-12 conference mark.
